Deuce Lodge is a private Duck Camp in Forman, ND. Since 2000, the Carlson family and friends have hunted and fished throughout Sargent County. In 2008, Deuce Lodge was constructed. The new Lodge provides an excellent home base and will ensure that our hunting traditions are passed to future generations.

Deuce

Founder & Legend

Born February 10, 2000, retired September 26, 2011. The founder and undisputed leader of Deuce Lodge with over 2,000 retrieves in his name, Deuce thrived on challenging cold water retrieves and is the standard other dogs strive to achieve.

Cabo

Terminator

An athletic wonder, Cabo mastered the skill of retrieves from her older friend Deuce. Born in 2009, Cabo has some of the longest retrieves in record. Her drive is unmatched and Cabo excels in long distance retrieves. Cabo is a Master Hunter and Qualified All Age.

Deke

Mr. Victory Roll

With a concentration level like none other, Deke dominates at retrieving. Born November 11, 2009, Deke joined the legendary 1,000 retrieve club in 2019 and finished his season at 1,099 lifetime retrieves. When not hunting, he enjoys laying on the couch with Cabo and having an absolute spaz when it's time to eat.

Hank

Heir Apparent

Born on March 2, 2015, Hank is the son of Deuce and Cabo, and brother to Remi. Hank has 120 retrieves experience including 34 in 2018. Hank enjoyed a breakout year in 2019 with 199 retrieves, bringing his total to 319. Outside of hunting Hank enjoys running away from home and chewing on the stud walls in his basement.

Remi

Rem-Dog

Born on March 2, 2015, Remi is the son of Deuce and Cabo and brother to Hank. Named after the venerable Remington system of shotguns, Remi had a good rookie campaign with 79 total retrieves in 2016 (13 in Texas and 66 at Deuce Lodge). He followed that up with 69 retrieves in 2017 for a lifetime total of 148 through two seasons. Remi excelled in 2018 more than doubling his lifetime total with 164 retrieves. 2019 was his best year yet with 229 retrieves bringing his lifetime total to 541.

Ruger

Ambassador

The official dog ambassador to Deuce Lodge, Ruger is a local pure bred black lab with a big body and bigger heart. His favorite things are hanging out at the shop, walking main street, and hunting roosters with his master.

This excellent team of retrievers is the ultimate conservation tool.

HISTORY

Deuce Lodge is a private Duck Camp located in Forman, ND. The Lodge is named after Amy & Ted's first dog Deuce. Deuce was quite possibly the greatest hunter, retriever, listener, and friend on Earth.

Deuce was born in February 2000 and was given to Ted as a gift from his Grandpa Morris West. Grandpa West and Ted traveled to the kennel together and from there Deuce started life in Apple Valley, MN. His training travels brought him to Texas, Kansas, and Iowa. As a puppy Deuce would repeatedly be sent on 300-yard blind retrieves across the lake and would always come back with the bird. A finished retriever, Deuce thrived on challenging cold-water blind retrieves. He was the ultimate conservation tool. We estimate that Deuce retrieved over 2,000 ducks in his lifetime.

The founders first hunted North Dakota in 2000. The experience captivated them and they bought a share in a small farmhouse on 33 acres. In 2006, they purchased the land. In 2008, with the help of the Forman Fire Department, a few beers, and some dynamite, they burned the old farmhouse down. In September 2008 the new Lodge was completed.

Everyone always says their dog is the best dog in the world. We disagree. Deuce was the best dog in the world and it's a proud tribute in his honor that we will be forever hunting out of Deuce Lodge.
